do YOU want to know Did
you ever look at the news about your government and want to know what was beneath
the surface of the headlines? Were you
ever unsatisfied with the response of a government official and wish you were
better informed on a topic, so you could ask the best questions of that
official? Have you ever wanted to do investigative research the way the big
boys do it? If you’ve
learned anything about inner government workings that politicians wish you
didn’t know, you got it by one of two basic ways: 1. “Deep Throat” whispered
secrets to you in an underground garage, or 2. someone forced the government
to release documents by use of a “Freedom of Information Law” (F.O.I.L.) request. Use of the
F.O.I.L., frequently and publicly, will keep our government open, while
publication of the findings will arm the citizenry with the political ammunition
required to make our government work for us.
However, most
people have no idea of how to begin. A good place to start is through the
website accessed here. Provided by There are no
bad F.O.I.L. requests. Hopefully,
you’ll get the answers you want in a timely matter. If you don’t, that alone may be cause for
more questions. We’ll keep a

page. Be sure to acquaint yourself
with this information. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and share what you
learn. Help keep your government open.
In a closely
contested village election Last minute work by the Colette and the
entire Democratic team paid off today.
When Colette demonstrated her drive and ability, along with her vision
for a better Pawling, the voters responded. Colette gave her thanks at the post-election
celebration. “I want to thank everyone in the
Pawling community for your vote of confidence. It means a lot to me. I thank my husband Louis and my entire
family for their encouragement and support.
Lastly, I need to thank everyone in the Pawling Democratic Party for
their nomination, and their support of my campaign.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I
personally invite you to join me-and
residents of our community to discuss ideas and focus on our community issues
and enhancements.” “As a Village
Board Trustee I could extend my years of experience and accomplishments to
address community goals for issues such as health, safety, water quality and
economic growth, as the increased need for services and resulting tax
implications affects all our lives. I
pledge to focus my energies on cost saving measures and prudent spending to
maintain an effective, operational budget.
A highly functioning budget is necessary to support our need of
services and contain yearly tax increases. Some of my
proposals to address and provide relief of tax increases are: ·
Create joint oversight with town for advocacy on
fair property assessments for all Village residents, with specific attention
for our senior citizens, veterans, and disabled, plus ·
Create smart commercial growth
to help offset increasing property taxes and an overburdened school district
budget, with focus on our local merchants for sustaining solvency in accord
with our environmental landscape, ·
Secure additional grants for
resources for our senior citizens and teens I look
forward to applying my in-depth studies of these topics for the common good
of all our residents.” “In the past
few months, the Village board and public forum meetings addressed the
tragedies of our community which touched my heart. The voices in each audience connected with
ideas for working together on many priority concerns. As a parent, I was impressed to learn that
the kind residents of this community were united, as we moved into uncharted areas
of concern. On that note, I consider
the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department to be one of outstanding
professionals who focus attention on our community needs. I will be honored to serve the residents of

Colette and
family moved into a Pawling rental in 2003 to alert the Village board to the
Baxter Green construction gridlock suffered by them and others who were
experiencing extended waits for completion of their homes. Her findings lead her to organize Baxter
Green home buyers into a neighborhood coalition. She then spearheaded an appeal to the NYS
Attorney General to resolve the health, safety and breach of contract
developer issues. Reed Asher, a
twenty-eight year Pawling resident and Pawling Chamber of Commerce member,
who owns a studio pottery business, commented about the candidate: “I’ve known Colette since her
move to the village in 2003. She came
to me for help to get to know her new town and the people in charge so she
could take part in the economics and governmental procedures. I was amazed at the speed and determination
she showed in getting to know how Pawling works and who pulls the strings.
She did not just denounce the deplorable actions of the builders at Baxter
Green, she took action. I believe if it were not for |
